LOVE ON FARMERS

Once in awhile someone comes up with an idea that's a head-slapping, innovative, charitable, coolest thing.  That happened this morning with this email reach out from Clara Coleman (Eliot's daughter):

 Dear Joel,

Happy New Year to you and your family from Eliot, Barbara, myself, and all the rest of us here at Four Season Farm!

For 2020 my New Years resolution is to share my generous heart and serve more farmers this year and in this spirit I created a #RealFarmerCare GoFundMe campaign to show caring support of farmers. Please help me spread the word to your networks and consider becoming a recipient of the campaign yourself! I’d love to support you and all your hard work caring for the land and people over the years. Click on the link for more details. And any questions, please let me know.

 Cheers, Clara

In general, I feel like most gofundme campaigns are self-serving panhandling, but here is an ultimately generous open-handed serving-others kind of effort and I can't help but spread the word.

The way it works is that if you're a farmer and you know something between $50-$100 that would brighten your day--a meal out with your significant other, a massage, a movie night--just send in the idea with a picture of you on your farm and Clara will send you the money to enjoy the indulgence.  I can't tell you what a sweet and precious idea this is.

Lots of farmers struggle and never spend a dime on themselves.   They're feeding the animals, packing boxes, hustling to market, filling out paperwork--all those tasks required to run a small business, and there's just no time or money left for themselves.  So all of you who love farmers, how about sending a few nickels to this effort and let's make her reach her goal of $5,000 in a day to show that Americans love good farmers.  Let's affirm this cultural minority with a big heart.

             Thank you.
