VICIOUS VEGANS

I wish I knew how many times I’ve been accused of being a murderer, of being unable to love, of encouraging violence in society, all because I eat meat.  Worse than that, I produce livestock to be eaten.  Sin of all sins.

The vegan crowd for a long time has presented itself as the caring movement, the loving movement, the ones who eschew violence.  After all, biting into a carrot is certainly not as violent as shedding blood and then eating muscle and sinew.

Warriors eat meat.  Caring people don’t.  You know the verbiage.

With all this in mind, I had quite a chuckle over the latest kerfuffle at

Beyond Meat where the Chief Operating Officer has been suspended and arrested after allegedly biting a man’s nose and threatening to kill him.  Beyond Meat, the plant-based vegan substitute for real food, is cutting about 20 percent of its work force amid abysmal sales reports.  Just a couple of months ago the company projected a 12 percent growth for 2022, to between $470 million and $520 million, but instead revenue has plunged and it now expects a 10 percent decline in sales to a 2022 revenue of between $400 million and $425 million.

Missing a short-term forecast by 20 percent is remarkable.  The company blames distributors, customers, and inventory changes.  Perhaps it’s as simple as not enough fatty acids going to the brain to fuel proper mental acuity.  Maybe they need some meat eaters to run their financials.

I must say I’m not heartbroken at this reversal of fortune in a product with such false claims.  May this trend continue.  Perhaps next year they can lay off another 20 percent.  I can hear people calling me uncharitable for this line of thinking, but I don’t think anything is as uncharitable as denying your little children the essential fatty acids required for proper brain function and development.

Apparently this Beyond Meats COO got into an altercation with someone in a parking garage that led to the nose biting incident.  If we follow the gentle and kind vegan narrative, maybe we should be glad he wasn’t a meat eater:  he would have bitten off his adversary’s head.  Thank goodness for vegan kindness.

Do you think eating meat makes you mean?
