CENSORSHIP

Censorship is like food police—you don’t realize what it’s like until it actually happens to you.

Today I’m sharing an exchange with Dr. Sina McCullough, my co-author of BEYOND LABELS

and co-host of our podcast by the same title.  This is a look behind the curtain, if you will, to see what

those of us committed to an alternative narrative are actually going through as we try to get innovative

ideas to the public.  Folks, this kind of anti-idea thinking is deadly to cultural innovation.  This should

inflame anyone who wants unfettered access to ideas.  Read and be informed, then weep, then dry

your eyes and commit to defending freedom.  Thanks.

Good morning!

I found the itemized list of topics we cannot discuss on YouTube.  It's long and some are open-ended.  Below is the link. But, here are some highlights along with initial thoughts.

Overall, we can't talk about any vaccines or COVID.  There are entire sections detailing what you can't say about each of those topics, including you can't make "claims that achieving herd immunity through natural infection is safer than vaccinating the population."  So...it's best we just don't mention vaccines or COVID at all on YouTube.

NOLAN: Dr. Hazan mentioned Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine in our latest interview with her so that video should be pulled.  Those two drugs are specifically called out in YouTube's new medical misinformation policy.

Additionally, the video I recorded as bonus content for our subscribers where I made my special version of chicory root tea should be pull from YouTube, if it's on YouTube.  I'm not sure if it was posted to that platform or Rumble.  In that video, I cite a peer-reviewed study that reported chicory root can remedy COVID.  That would be censored so it needs to be pulled.

Moving forward, I think any video where we talk about herbal remedies should not be put on YouTube (or should be bleeped out).  They should be uploaded to Rumble instead.

We also can't talk about certain alternative treatments in general, such as: ozone therapy, colloidal therapy, B-17/apricot seeds, high-grade hydrogen peroxide, or black salve.  I actually use black salve to draw out splinters; it works wonderfully!  But we can't talk about it.  The FDA has declared it "dangerous" and now YouTube, working with the WHO, says it's medical misinformation.

Under the alternative treatment and cancer section, YouTube states you can't make "claims that alternative treatments are safer or more effective than approved treatments for cancer."

We just recorded an episode about YouTube's new policy and I quoted a peer-reviewed study that reported treatment with garlic was more effective than approved treatments for cancer and didn't have the side effects.

NOLAN: If that clip is on YouTube, we should remove it.

YouTube also states you can't have "content that encourages the use of home remedies, prayer, or rituals in place of medical treatment for COVID-19 such as consulting a doctor or going to the hospital."

This statement reiterates there is a lot we can no longer say in the medical realm.  Again, moving forward, home remedies should not be shared on YouTube but uploaded to Rumble instead.  This is also the first time I've seen a mention of prayer in the guidelines, which means they are expanding in several areas.

And, of course, it's up to their discretion.  My friend, who is a marketing direction, said they use AI to detect words and will sometimes censor you based on the AI algorithm regardless of the intent of the content i.e., AI can't always determine the intent so the content is just censored.

I think we continue with Nolan's idea of placing the image over our mouths and bleeping out that content, directing people to our pay wall so we can provide them with content that is actually useful but won't pass the censorship machine, and encouraging them to subscribe to our Rumble channel.

We have one warning and 1 strike on YouTube.  If we get one more strike on YouTube, we need to remove the account b/c if our channel is banned, I will be permanently banned from YouTube.

YouTube explicitly states that all of my accounts would be removed and I could never get an account on YouTube again.  I asked my friend, the marketing director, for advice.  She said you can't circumvent their system once you are banned b/c of their tracking ability.  So even though I have a VPN, it wouldn't work.  I can't take the risk of being permanently banned b/c I'm starting to make cooking videos for Epoch Times so I need a channel.

As you know, I don't want to be on YouTube because I don't want to support their censorship, but that's where most people are so if we want to help people, we need to maintain a presence in that space while encouraging them to join a different platform, like Rumble - for now.

This is a heavy burden to carry, so I keep handing it over to God and trusting that He will show us the way.  We are called to help people and if YouTube is not part of our path, that's okay.  He'll make the path known.  We just need to be open and listen.  : )
