POLYFACE DESIGNS HAY WAGON

Wow, thank you all for the outpouring of support for POLYFACE DESIGNS, an upcoming book that former apprentice engineer Chris Slattery and graphic design maven Jennifer Dehoff wrapped around my text.  It's heavy on diagrams and shorter on text--just enough to keep you going.

Few things are as generic on a farm as a hay wagon.  It's the quintessential transport vessel.  We use ours to carry logs, firewood, hay, people, milled lumber, chicken shelters--yes, they're pretty useful.

Because they are prolific in the farming community, almost every farm sale has 2 or 3.  Often they have no deck boards and you can pick up the chassis for a song; like under $100.  Even a really stout chassis in great shape won't run you more than $300.  The deck is what makes them expensive.

You can put on your own deck.  In POLYFACE DESIGNS, we show you step by step what dimensional lumber you need (with options) and how to square it up and attach the deck.  Beyond that, we even detail how to stack a wagon so the bales don't fall off.

Here at Polyface, our stewardship program brings in about 10 young people a year for a boot camp introduction to farming.  Very seldom have any of these young people ever stacked a hay wagon.  We use blocks on a model wagon to show the procedure, but in POLYFACE DESIGNS you'll get a virtual visual lesson.  It's almost as good as being here.

If you have a band sawmill, you can cut your own lumber and build wagon decks.  A nice deck can move the price from $300 to $1,200.  Some people actually do this as a profitable side gig.  Profitable farming often entails several complementary enterprises, and this is one that's often overlooked.

You may want hay wagons even if you don't make hay.  We use ours as much for toting around people for our Lunatic Tours as we do for hay.  This is the kind of practical real life self-help material you'll find in POLYFACE DESIGNS.  We expect to be able to ship it by September 28 or before.  Right now we're offering it at $20 off the cover price until we have them in hand.  Then it'll go up, so if this interests you, pre-order it today.  Thank you.
